The Liebster Award 2018

I would like to thank A Rambling Collective, Reina, and Andrea for nominating me for the Liebster Award! I am flattered and I’m grateful for the opportunity to answer your questions plus nominate other awesome blogs for this award too!

The Rules

  1. Thank the blogger who nominated you.
  2. Share 11 facts about yourself.
  3. Answer 11 questions the blogger gave you.
  4. Nominate 11 bloggers, who deserve the award.
  5. Create 11 original questions for the nominees to answer.
  6. Let them know they’ve been nominated.

11 Facts About Me

  1. I use my own homemade shampoo, which is a mixture of apple cider vinegar, cold tap water, and a few drops of peppermint oil (to help curb the strong vinegar smell).
  2. Three things I’d like to try someday: rock climbing, kayaking, and horseback riding.
  3. My favorite kind of shoes to wear are flip-flops.
  4. Although I grew up in a household where it was typical to use a Chinese spoon for drinking both hot and cold soups, I actually prefer using a silver rounded spoon. I never liked the raised edges of a Chinese spoon for some reason.
  5. I only have one pet now; a 1-year-old-ish goldfish named Koi. I had other goldfish but they all died. 😢
  6. I recently painted my nails for the first time in 10-ish years. 🙂
  7. I cannot stand centipedes. Their many legs never fail to scare the living daylights out of me!
  8. Brunch is my favorite style of eating.
  9. I use hair scrunchies a lot.
  10. I mostly go for the colors purple and blue when picking out clothes.
  11. It’s a weird habit but sometimes I turn on the A.C. in my room to drown out surrounding noise if it’s too loud for me to sleep.

A Rambling Collective’s Questions

  1. Which person, alive or dead, would you like to have dinner with? Anne Frank.
  2. Who did you last sing to? No one.
  3. What is your fondest memory of childhood? Randomly deciding to wear my ballerina dress at a barbecue at home.
  4. Which quality do you value most in a friendship? Patience.
  5. What is your favourite chocolate bar? Hershey’s.
  6. What are you saving up for? School, perhaps.
  7. What do you spend your money on? Clothes and books.
  8. Who do you miss? A childhood best friend.
  9. Do you prefer an armchair or sofa and why? Sofa so I can lay down on it.
  10. Would you be a life model for a class where someone knew you? Sure, why not.
  11. Do you eat noodles with chopsticks? Yes, always!

Reina’s Questions

  1. Favourite quote? Robert Frost: “In three words I can sum up everything I’ve learned about life: it goes on.”
  2. Favourite pet? Lovebird.
  3. Pet peeves? Loud chewing, gossiping behind people’s backs, and dirty nails.
  4. Milkshake or Ice cream? Ice cream. 😬
  5. Meat or Fish? Meat.
  6. Religion? I have none.
  7. Introvert, Extrovert or Ambivert ? Introvert, definitely.
  8. Role Model or someone you look up to? I don’t have one at the moment.
  9. Favourite vacation spot. If you don’t have yet, where would you like to go ? Ireland or Scotland.
  10. Nationality ? I am American.
  11. Country of residence ? U.S.

Andrea’s Questions

  1. Why did you start blogging? To have a place to write down my thoughts in a way I could share them with the world.
  2. Are you happy with your life at the moment, or would you like to change something? I have moments of happiness but I would not say I am 100% content/happy with where I currently am in life. I would love to change the hesitancy I have in jumping into new situations.
  3. Do you remember the first blog you followed? Who was it? It was Deer Drama which is a site with episode recaps of various Chinese historical dramas. I started reading it to get spoilers for the jist of what goes on the storylines because the main killjoy of a lot of those dramas is they have an exceeding amount of episodes and I just do not have the patience to watch all of that.
  4. Do you believe in “Always be yourself”, or do you sometimes take an opportunity to play another role for just a short amount of time? I definitely have done my share of pretending in situations to appear more confident or relaxed. It’s hard to truly be myself sometimes when my nerves get the best of me.
  5. Do you think there are more men or women on WordPress? What about your followers? I think there are just as much men as there are women on WordPress. I would guess I have more female followers but I could be wrong.
  6. As what animal would you like to come back after death? A bird so I can know what it’s like to fly. It would be ironic too since I am terrified of heights.

  1. .. I shouldn’t have googled centipede xD I wanted to make sure they were what Koreans referred to as “money bugs.” Supposedly if you see them, they bring you money (not literally ofc that’d be strange). The homemade shampoo seems interesting! I used to sometimes use apple cider vinegar on my hair because it’s supposed to be good for it, but woo, yeah, that smell…
I want to try those three things too! Especially rock climbing (indoors.. not out.. probably never out….) Kayaking seems kiiind of fun. Wait, you can’t swim! Learn to swim first!!!

    1. Whaat! That’s so interesting that Koreans consider centipedes to be lucky for me if they encounter one. 😮 Yes, that vinegar smell is nasty!! I need the peppermint oil to drown it out. XD Definitely, I would only agree to rock climbing indoors. I don’t want to be climbing a mountain out of nowhere. Ugh I hate heights! Kayaking does seem cool but of course I didn’t know that swimming was a requirement for it in most places. Darn it!

      1. Yeah! I don’t know why they think centipedes are lucky in finance, but next time you see one, think MONEYYYY and maybe that’ll help you with the disgust haha. Peppermint smells great so that’s a good idea for overcoming that vinegar smell. Haha yeah I would not trust myself on an actual mountain! I don’t know how people take tents that can hang on the side and sleep overnight off the mountain! Those are some serious climbers. Maybe mild kayaking would be okay with just a life vest? >< Just to be safe swimming would be good to know White water rafting seems scary to me and that would definitely require some strong swimming skills imo.

      2. Funny thing about the centipedes. XD At the time I read this comment of yours, I had just gotten a day’s workout from weeding a strawberry garden. I saw many little centipedes here and there but they were slightly less disgusting since they were babies. If it was a killer giant one I would have probably dropped everything and ran away. XD

Sleeping in a tent seems scary. I would be most afraid of running into bears. I once had an opportunity to try kayaking but beforehand I told the event host that I couldn’t swim. His advice was to suggest I lie about being able to if I was asked, otherwise I would not be able to participate. But I didn’t since I was too uncomfortable with the idea of IF something bad did happen out on the water, I would basically be screwed lol.

      3. Ooh a strawberry garden! That sounds so nice! Gardening seems pretty relaxing. Haha yeah the event host was being nice but not quite practical xD It’d be scary for everyone if something were to happen to you!
The tents for mountain climbers are hanging from the side of mountains too! Isn’t that even scarier? Ahhh. Also just camping in general… mosquitoes love me too much 😥

      4. Ah, mosquitos while camping! I forgot about those pesky little things. I would also worry about hygiene. How do people bathe and go to the toilet while camping? 😱

      5. For some reason I envision the waterfall is icy cold so showering might be unpleasant unless it’s raging hot outdoors. And the trench thing… yikes. This is TMI but I don’t know if I could manage to poop in a hole and not accidentally fall in afterward. XD Very risky business lol.

      6. I think monks meditate under those icy cold waterfalls to practice patience or perseverance or something, so you may not be far off there xD LOL my advice would be to make a hole that’s too narrow for you to fall into and deep? But then… you might need good aim ahaha

    1. You earned it, Becky, so I couldn’t help but nominate you. 😜

You could try the homemade shampoo. If it doesn’t give you good results, don’t be discouraged as there are a lot of variations for homemade shampoos. Some ingredients work better for certain hair types.

    1. The shampoo blend took a bit of poking around on the internet for me to be invested in trying. The homemade blend can depend on what your hair needs are, like if your hair is too dry or too oily. Apple cider vinegar helps with too much oiliness which is what I have. I also had dandruff issues that the blend helped to clear up.
